When there is someone in the body of Christ who disobeys the commands of Christ, those in the Spirit have great sorrow. The Spirit of God provides Godly sorrow toward sin whether it is your sin or the sin of others. When you sin in the body of Christ you effect the whole body. There is a camp of believers who believe that anger is the proper response when someone sins. But the beatitude does not say blessed are those who are angry. Anger and sorrow are two completely different feelings. But many cannot differentiate them. A great way to recognize the difference is to check your thinking.

Godly sorrow leads to repentance, and anger leads to destruction. If your thoughts regarding the situation are for the person to be restored to Christ, then chances are you are experiencing Godly sorrow. If your thoughts are evil or destructive toward this person, then chances are that you are angry. You will know by your spirit. If the Holy Spirit is comforting you during your time of mourning and you are experiencing a sweet time of fellowship with Christ, then you have sorrow.

The focus in this first miracle should be the joy that Jesus brings to your life when He changes your ordinary life into something special– life in Christ! Jesus does not come into a person’s life to make them sad and discouraged. His power produces life and joy. Walking with God is simple. It requires spending time with Him through a love relationship and obeying Him when He commands something. Your obedience to God keeps you under His protection and brings great joy to your soul.

Jesus’ first miracle was to turn water into wine. The people at the wedding feast could not believe the wine they drank at the end of the feast was better than the beginning.

When Jesus does something in your life, you will see the beauty of life in Christ. His work in your life brings joy. Joy focuses not so much on something good happening in your life but on Jesus showing up in your need. When you see the Love of Christ extended toward you, you receive an inner joy, celebration, and peace.
