To hunger and thirst for righteousness is to hunger for the Lord Jesus Christ. When your heart hungers and thirsts for Jesus, you have a strong desire for Him. He, then, will fill you with all of His spiritual resources. Faithfulness is one of those resources. You will not find spiritual faithfulness apart from a deep relationship with Jesus.
As we begin John, Book 2, we will shift our focus off of joy and onto faithfulness. The purpose of laying the Beatitudes over the book of John and focusing on one fruit of God’s Spirit is to bring about a heart change that warrants spiritual growth and development instead of only head knowledge. Your spirit changes when you surrender your heart and mind to the truth that Jesus is teaching you in each day of study. The heart does not change when you read and do not apply the truth to your life through the surrender of your heart.
To hunger and thirst for righteousness is a true blessing because it means that you hunger for the Lord Jesus Christ. When your heart hungers and thirsts for Jesus, it means that it has a strong desire for Him. When you have this type of thirst and seek Him daily, He will fill you with all of His spiritual resources. Faithfulness is one of these resources. You will not find spiritual faithfulness apart from a deep relationship with Jesus. As you begin this week commit to focus on learning more about your Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ and surrendering your heart to the Words that He is teaching you.
